Top 4 Swimming Pool Games to Play

Hosting a pool party is a fun way to keep the kids entertained during the summer. However, finding activities that can keep children in the pool for longer than ten minutes can be challenging.

These ideas will provide hours of entertainment for the children, ensuring a successful event.

Cannonball contest

Equipment

No equipment is required, but it must be played in the deep end.

Directions

Nothing gets the kids going like splashing around in a pool. The cannonball contest is about creating the biggest splash in the group.

Choose a judge and have the kids line up by the edge of the pool. Instruct them to jump in one at a time to make the biggest splash that they can manage.

F-I-S-H

Equipment

None

Directions

Get the swimmers in the pool to form a circle. One swimmer will then create a move that they think will be challenging for others to copy. The other players must try to emulate the demonstrated action, for example, a backflip. The swimmers will attempt this in the order they are standing, and the first player to get the move wrong gets the letter F. Once all the children have tried the first move, the next player chooses a new one. The first swimmer to get the four letters that spell FISH will lose the game.

Atomic Whirlpool

Equipment

None, but this game should be played in the pool's shallow end.

Directions

Players should get into the pool and form a single line. Ask the swimmer at one end of the line to start walking towards the player at the opposite end. The other swimmers follow the first swimmer until they form a circle.

The players then begin running in the water while maintaining the circle. They should keep running until they form a whirlpool. Swimmers will find themselves being carried along with a strong current that may even lift them off the ground. After a few minutes, ask the players to turn and run in the opposite direction. This will be almost impossible to do given the strong current created by the running.

Marco Polo

Equipment

Blindfold

Directions

One player swims in the pool blindfolded and tries to tag other players. The "It" player counts to the number of their choosing as the other swimmers scatter around the pool. Once the count is completed, the "It" player shouts "Marco" while the others respond "Polo." The swimmer who is "It" has to try and tag the other players by following the sound of their voices.

Take precautions

It's essential to have a clean swimming pool when hosting a pool party. Dirty pools can harbor germs that may cause infections. Before having guests over, call a pool cleaning service to ensure a fun, incident-free event.
